Configuration and pathways of digital economy empowering rural revitalization in Jiangxi province
Based on the data from 11 prefecture-level cities in Jiangxi province from 2018 to 2022,employing the dynamic Qualitative Comparative Analysis(QCA)method and integrating multiple theoretical perspectives, this paper explores the necessary conditions and configuration paths for digital economy to empower rural revitalization. The results show that while individual digital economy elements are not necessaily required of rural revitalization, the necessity of industrial digitalization factors has been increasing year by year, becoming a critical driving force in promoting rural development. Two high-level rural revitalization configuration paths have been identified--the"data-empowered innovation-driven model"and the"technology-empowered government-enterprise synergy-driven model".Both models emphasize the importance of cooperation between motivation and safeguarding.Digital industrialization and industrial digitalization form the source of motivation while digital governance and data valorization provide a solid safeguarding, together shaping the dual driving mechanism for rural revitalization.Over-reliance on digital governance can lead to the"formalization"of rural governance, which in turn becomes a bottleneck restricting the development of rural areas.Accordingly,it is recommended to deeply integrate"digital external forces"with"rural internal foundations"to create a"rural industry digitalization center",focus on the collaborative development of multiple elements, and apply the"motivation+safeguarding"strategy according to local conditions, and make good use of a"combined strategy"to promote sustainable development and comprehensive revitalization in rural areas.
