Based on the theory of livelihood resilience, the entropy method and ordinary least squares(OLS)model were used to explore the impact of farmers'participation in the division of labor on livelihood resilience and its mechanism by using research data of 1 082 farming houseolds in Liaoning province. The results show that participation in the agricultural labor division has significant impact on the resilience of farmers'livelihoods, which is characterized by"pulling"and"weakening"in the horizontal and vertical dimensions, respectively.Specifically, the horizontal division of labor in agriculture significantly increases the livelihood resilience of farming households while the vertical division of labor has destabilizing effect and reduces livelihood resilience.Higher age of the householder has significant inhibitory effect on livelihood resilience while production and business characteristics such as insurance participation and organizational governance have significant positive effect on the livelihood resilience of farming households. After an endogeneity treatment as well as a robustness test, the study's conclusions remain valid. The heterogeneity tests found that the forces generated by participation in the agricultural division of labor are significantly weakened by the degree of part-time employments, and that the increased income channels made the livelihoods of farming households more stable and less susceptible to the effect caused by participation in the agricultural division of labor.Accordingly,it is recommended to optimize the land transfer market, regulate the business activities of agricultural productive service subjects, enhance the endogenous development power of part-time farmers, and effectively improve the overall livelihood resilience of farming households.
