Non-farm employment, family generations, and farmers'revitalization and utilization behavior of"two idle"resources:an empirical study based on Jiangxi province
Based on survey data from the"double hundred and double thousand"rural revitalization initiative in Jiangxi province, this study employs a binary Probit model to empirically analyze the impact mechanism of non-farm employment on farmers'revitalization and utilization behavior of"two idle"resources, while examining the moderating effect of family generations. The results show that initial participation in non-farm employment has a significant negative impact on farmers'revitalization and utilization behavior of"two idle"resources.Farmers not engaged in non-farm employment are more inclined to revitalize and utilize these"two idle"resources to accumulate economic capital for improving production and living conditions.Conversely,non-farm employment income significantly promotes the revitalization and utilization behavior of"two idle"resources, with farmers earning lower non-farm incomes exhibiting greater dependence on these"two idle"resources and a stronger tendency to retain their homesteads.Family generations negatively moderate both the significant negative impact of initial non-farm employment participation and the significant positive effect of non-farm employment income on the revitalization and utilization behavior of"two idle"resources. Therefore,it is recommended to enhance the dissemination of rural homestead policy reforms, promote effective employment for farmers, ensure the orderly transfer of idle homesteads through multiple channels, and advance comprehensive institutional innovations to optimize the revitalization and utilization of rural"two idle"resources.
