Evaluation of Main Functional Component in 24 Bulbs of Lycoris Species
The contents of functional components including starch, soluble sugars, total polysaccharides, soluble proteins, total phenols, total flavonoids, total alkaloids and total saponins were measured from the bulbs of 24 species(varieties)of Ly-coris radiata.Principal component analysis method was used to comprehensively evaluate the functional components and the materials. The results showed that the contents of starch, soluble sugars, total polysaccharides, soluble proteins, total phenols, total flavonoids, total alkaloids and total saponins in tested bulbs were 122.78~169.25 mg/g,103.82~138.06 mg/g,18.31~23.61 mg/g,43.33~75.98 mg/g,0.91~3.79 mg/g,0.65~1.78 mg/g,3.41~8.69 mg/g and 0.68~1.22 mg/g,respectively.The coefficient of variation for each indicator ranged from 8.03%to 33.84%,with small coefficients of variation for soluble sugar content among different materials and large coefficients of variation for total phenolic content. The quality traits of Lycoris could be evaluated from three aspects:the content of functional factors, antioxidant factors and nutritional factors. In this study,Lycoris germplasms with high alkaloids, antioxidant factors and nutritional substance content, such as Lycoris haywardii,Lycoris longituba,Lycoris squamigera,Lycoris shaanxiensis,Lycoris sprengeri,Lycoris jinzheniae which have the potential to be developed as the functional product were selected,in order to provide a reference for further breeding of varieties with high content of specific functional substances.
