Study on Biological and Cultural Characteristics of Two Strains of Fusarium
The biological and cultural characteristics of Zb-21(Fusarium solani)and WX-6(Fusarium tricinctum)were studied to understand their growth patterns. The results of the biological characteristics showed that light conditions had a significant influence on the growth state of Fusarium. The strain Zb-21 exhibited the greatest growth rate at pH value 7 and 20℃,while the highest spore production and spore germination rate were observed at 30℃.In contrast, the strain WX-6 demonstrated the greatest growth rate and the highest spore production and spore germination rate at pH value 6~10 and 20℃.The results of the cultural characteristics showed that Zb-21 exhibited the most rapid mycelial growth when the carbon source was D-maltose,in the absence of a nitrogen source, with magnesium sulphate serving as a trace element, and vitamin B1 incorporated into the Czapek medium.Conversely, the highest spore production was observed when sucrose was served as the carbon source, beef extract acted as the nitrogen source, ferrous sulphate was present as a trace element, vitamin C was added, and the medium was CPDA.The highest spore germination rate was observed when the carbon source was glucose, the nitrogen source was ammonium sulphate, the trace element was iron sulphate, and the medium was CA.The WX-6 strain exhibited the most rapid mycelial growth when sucrose was employed as the carbon source, yeast infusion powder as the nitrogen source, magnesium sulphate as the trace element, and no vitamins were added, and the medium was either Czapek or CA.The highest sporulation rate was achieved when β-cyclodextrin was the carbon source, magnesium sulphate was the trace element, vitamin B complex was used, and the mediu was CPDA.Additionally, the highest germination rate was observed when glucose was the carbon source, peptone was the nitrogen source, magnesium sulphate was the trace element, vitamin B1 was added, and CPDA was the medium. The test media containing phosphate demonstrated that Zb-21 exhibited the most rapid mycelial growth when sterilised separately on agar and phosphate, and the highest spore production when co-sterilised on CPDA medium.Similarly,WX-6 displayed the fastest mycelial growth in Czapek's medium co-sterilised on agar and phosphate, and the highest spore production when co-sterilised on CPDA medium.
