A New Interpretation of Traditional Historiography and the Construction of Modern Chi-nese Historiography from the Perspectives of Historical Hermeneutics and Tradition Theory
Contemporary historical hermeneutics and traditionalism reveal the importance of tradition in his-torical interpretation,that is,historical cognition and research.This theory elucidates the vital role of traditional historiography in the construction of modern Chinese historiography across four main aspects:first,traditional historiography serves as the"pre-view"of modern historians'research,shaping their perspective on traditional historiography and construction of modern historiography.Second,in the con-struction of modern historiography,traditional historiography is both the interpreter and the interpreted in the construction of modern historiography,exerting a subjective role.Third,as the substantive tradi-tions of traditional culture and historiography,moral practical reason and the principle of practical ap-plication directly influenced and restricted modern historians to interpret traditional historiography and construct modern historiography.Fourth,traditional historiography provided a rich thought resources for the construction of modern historiography,showcasing its vitality.The construction and development of modern Chinese historiography is a product of the mutual influence and continuous integration of tradi-tional historiography and modern western historiography.
