Analytical calculation of contact stress on parallel shaft beveloid gear
Currently, the beveloid gear,as a new type of gear, has no mature contact-stress theory and calculation method. This article aims to theoretically calculate the maximum contact stress on the beveloid gear's tooth surface and explore the change of contact stress on the beveloid gear with different parameters.Based on the Hertz formula, with the beveloid gear's geometric structure of taken into consideration, efforts are made to identify the method to calculate such factors as beveloid gear's coinci-dence degree, radius of curvature, normal load, contact line length, coincidence coefficient and tooth shape angle coefficient. The effects of different pitch cone angles, number of teeth, modulus and pressure angles on the beveloid gear's contact stress are studied.Through the finite-element analysis,it is verified that the theoretical formula of calculating the beveloid gear's contact stress is correct. The results show that this formula with high accuracy can faithfully reflect the real contact stress value on the beveloid gear's tooth surface. This study provides basis for the beveloid gear's structure design and strength check.
