An Exploration of Buddhist Books Recorded in SongShi YiWenZhi
The historical materials of SongShi YiWenZhi compiled by Tuo Tuo at the end of the Yuan Dynasty were sourced from four GuoShi YiWenZhi compiled during the Song Dynasty. Therefore, the selection of materials and the concept of compilation reflect the changes in the compilation ideas of the catalogue during the Song and Yuan dynasties. The 384 Buddhist books included in the books are concentrated in the sub category of Taoism(222),and scattered in 20 sub categories(162)under the four part classification system of Jing,Shi,Zi and Ji.They have the characteristics of a large number of books, rich content, strong timeliness, and disor-derly classification. The SongShi YiWenZhi was hastily written and contained many errors.Although they have been corrected by scholars of different dynasties, there are still remnants, indicate the need of continu-ous sorting related books.
