Reflections on the Participation of Older People in Cultural Volunteerism:From the Practice of Public Libraries
Carrying out the elderly volunteer services is an important part of the development of the aging cause by the Party and the State,as well as an important embodiment of the mission of public cultural institutions.This paper selects municipal public libraries in the Pearl River Delta region as the survey object,and adopts the survey method of semi-structured interviews to investigate the practice of older people's participation in cul-tural volunteer services,carries out the analysis from six perspectives:job creation,definition of duties,re-cruitment methods,training system,incentives and labor security,finds that elderly people face several prob-lems when participating in cultural volunteer services,including limited participation channels,insufficient sense of fulfillment,and weak protection of their rights and interests.Public cultural institutions can encour-age and help more elderly people to participate in cultural volunteer services through diversified coopera-tion,the creation of professional positions and the development of a unified management platform.
