Combining space and time dimensions, this paper probes into Chen Yixi's complex mentality in different stages and regions, and discusses his poetic themes and preferences, which can reveal the intrinsic relation and patterns between literary creation and the subject's living environment. From a temporal perspective,Chen Yixi was born into a prominent family in Haining and served as an official all his life in various places. His life can be divided into three stages:serving as a minor official away from the capital, returning to the capital for a position, and finally serving as a traveling official in remote areas. The descriptions of scenic explorations and the expressions of complex,self-pitying sentiments in his poetry are all rooted in his life experience. From a spatial perspective,in the Central Plains,he mainly wrote about his longing for Jiangnan mountains and rivers and compassion for people's hardship;in the capital,he primarily wrote about the fortune of imperial favor, the joy of gatherings with friends and the regret of fleeting time;in Yunnan and Guizhou,he documented the landscapes, local customs, and human affairs along his travel routes.Through Chen Yixi's literary creation,we can see the interactions between the individual and family, region and era, which reflects the cultural mentality and life ideal of literati from prominent families during the period.
