Study on morphology and properties of oxidation film on MGH956 alloy surface
MGH956 alloy has the advantages of high melting point, low density, excellent high-temperature strength, etc. After high-temperature oxidation,MGH956 alloy generates a layer of dense oxidation film on its surface, which can effectively protect the alloy matrix. In this study,MGH956 alloy is taken as the research object, and the oxidation film is prepared on the surface of the alloy through high-temperature oxidation process, and the effect of high-temperature oxidation time on the morphology and properties of the oxidation film on the surface of MGH956 alloy is characterized by using scanning electron microscope(SEM),nano mechanic probe, and micrometer scratching instrument. The results show that the thickness of the oxidation film increases from 7.2 μm to 15.7 μm with the extension of oxidation time;the elastic modulus of the oxidation film shows a tendency of decreasing and then slightly increasing, and the elastic modulus is the highest(342.3 GPa)when the oxidation time is 25 h.The strength of the interfacial bonding between the oxidation film and the substrate increased continuously, and its strength is the largest when the oxidation time is 100 and 150 h.The surface quality of the oxidation film is fine when oxidized at 1 250℃for 50 and 100 h,and the hardness, bonding strength and wear resistance of the oxidation film are kept at a high level. Therefore, the comprehensive properities of the oxidation film generated by 50 and 100 h high temperature oxidation is optimal.
