Influence of Pharmacy Intervention in the Rational Use of Antimicrobials in Respiratory Outpatient and Emergency Departments
Objective To explore the influence of prescription review and pharmaceutical intervention based on prescription automatic screening system(PASS)on rational use of antibiotics in respiratory critical and emergency departments. Methods From August 2021 to August 2023,20 270 prescriptions of antibiotics used in respiratory and critical care departments and emergency departments of Tianjin Chest Hospital were studied. The prescriptions for pharmaceutical intervention starting in August 2022 were taken as the intervention group, and the prescriptions before the intervention were taken as the control group. The PASS system was used to sample all prescriptions, clinical pharmacists made prescription comments, and analyzed the reasonableness of unqualified prescriptions. The comments were fed back to physicians and the rational use of antimicrobials was trained in the whole department based on the comments. Results The qualified rate of prescription in the intervention group was significantly higher than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),and it increased steadily with the time of pharmaceutical intervention. Conclusion Pharmaceutical intervention is helpful to improve the rational use of antibiotics in respiratory, critical and emergency departments.
