Application of OBE Combined With CBL Teaching Method in Standardized Training of Residents in Digestive Medicine
Objective To explore the effectiveness of integrating outcomes-based education(OBE)and case-based learning(CBL)in the standardized training of resident physicians in digestive medicine. Methods A total of 80 students undergoing standardized training in gastroenterology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from September 2020 to September 2022 were randomly assigned into control and experimental groups. The control group received conventional teaching methods, while the experimental group received OBE combined with CBL teaching method. The comprehensive ability scores and satisfaction with the teaching model were compared between the two groups. Results The experimental group achieved higher scores in theoretical knowledge, case analysis, and practical examinations[(90.62±7.45)points,(89.15±6.82)points,(89.08±6.76)points]compared to the control group[(83.03±8.67)points,(80.95±7.56)points,(79.47±7.39)points],with statistically significant differences(P<0.001).The experimental group also scored significantly higher in five aspects, including doctor-patient communication,self-directed learning, clinical reasoning, teamwork, and research ability, compared to the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.001).The overall satisfaction rate with the OBE combined with CBL teaching method in the experimental group was 95.00%,significantly higher than the control group(72.50%),with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with conventional teaching methods, the combination of OBE and CBL teaching method can effectively enhance the comprehensive abilities of resident trainees and improve teaching satisfaction, thus stimulating students'interest and initiative in learning.
