Application of the Students as Examiners Teaching Method in Neurophysical Examination Teaching
Objective To explore the role and value of students as examiners teaching method in the training of neurological examinations for residents. Methods A total of 96 second-grade and third-grade residents who received standardized resident training in the department of neurology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine from February to October 2021 were randomly assigned according to the ratio of 1︰1.The experimental group adopted the students as examiners teaching method, while the control group adopted the traditional teaching method. The results of neurological examinations and the evaluation of teaching method were compared between the two groups. Results In experimental group, the mean score was(90.02±4.18)points,the lowest score was 83.00 points, the highest score was 96.00 points. The mean score of the control group was(85.15±5.85)points,the lowest score was 68.00 points and the highest score was 93.00 points. The scores of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group, the difference was statistically significant(t=4.527,P<0.001),and the evaluation of teaching method was better than that of the control group.Of note,in terms of improving the interest of learning, understanding the importance of physical examinations, helping to master the main points of operation, and hoping to be applied in other operations, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The students as examiners teaching method can improve the performance of neurological examinations and is beneficial to the cultivation of clinical practice ability.
