Efficacy of Different Root Canal Disinfections in the Treatment of Chronic Sinusoidal Apical Abscesses
Objective To investigate clinical effects of different root canal disinfection drugs on chronic sinusoidal apical abscess. Methods A total of 60 patients with chronic sinusoidal apical abscess were randomly divided into Vitapex group and Multi-Cal group, with 30 cases in each group. The clinical efficacy at week 2 and 1 year after treatment, the occurrence of acute pain reac-tions 1 week after root canal filling, periodontal pocket depth(PD),plaque index(PLI),and gin-gival sulcus bleeding index(SBI)were compared between the two groups. Results 2 weeks and 1 year after treatment, the efficacy of the Vitapex group was significantly better than that of the Multi-Cal group(P<0.05);1 week after root canal filling, the degree of acute pain response in the Vitapex group was significantly lower than that of the Multi-Cal group(P<0.05);1 year af-ter treatment, the values of PD,PLI,and SBI in the Vitapex group were significantly smaller than those in the Multi-Cal group(P<0.05).Conclusion Vitapex can be clinically fast-acting and ef-fective in the treatment of chronic sinusoidal apical abscesses, with minimal adverse effects and low recurrence rates.
