Disease Burden of Pulmonary Tuberculosis in Nanchang City from 2017 to 2022:an Analytical Report
Objective To analyze the disease burden and economic burden of pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB)in Nanchang city from 2017 to 2022,and to provide a basis for the development of rational and effective prevention and control strategies. Methods Descriptive epidemiological methods were employed to statistically analyze the epidemic data of pulmonary tuberculosis in Nanchang city from 2017 to 2022;the Disease Burden Excel template of the World Health Organization was used to measure the disability-adjusted life years;human capital method was adopted to estimate economic burden. Results From 2017 to 2022,a total of 21 900 PTB cases were registered in Nanchang city, including 43 deaths, with a male-to-female ratio of 2.41∶1 and an average annual incidence rate of 63.16 per 100 000 people. The estimated total DALY loss was 27 738.72 person-years,with a DALY intensity of 0.74 person-years per 1 000 population;both male DALYs and their intensities were higher than those of females, and both male and female DALY intensities increased with age;the burden of disease for PTB was mainly concentrated in the ages of 60 years and older, which accounted for 43.47 per cent of total DALYs.The annual indirect economic burden caused by PTB was 12 824.99 yuan, and the highest proportion of the indirect economic burden was attributable to the 45-59 age group. Conclusions This research suggests that the disease burden and economic burden of PTB patients in Nanchang city are relatively high, and that PTB prevention and control should be strengthened for key populations with the optimization of the reduction and exemption policy for PTB patients.
