A Rrandomized Controlled Study on the Treatment of Gastrocnemius Spasm in the Elderly with Fire Needle Pricking
Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy of fire needle pricking in the treatment of nocturnal gastrocnemius spasm in the elderly.Methods:80 elderly patients with gastrocnemius spasm were included in the study and randomly divided into observation group(n=39)and control group(n=38).The observation group was treated with fire needle pricking, and the control group was treated with Park needle. Both groups were treated 3 times a week, and 3 times were 1 course of treatment, for a total of 3 courses of treatment. The improvement of symptoms, signs and insomnia were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 97.44%in the observation group, while 57.89%in the control group. There was significant difference between the two groups(P<0.001).The symptom grading score, physical sign grading score, insomnia severity index, inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress in the two groups after 1 week,2 weeks and 3 weeks of treatment were better than those before treatment and the time point before treatment(P<0.05).The degree of improvement of the above indexes in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion:Fire needle pricking treatment can effectively alleviate nocturnal gastrocnemius muscle spasms in elderly patients, optimize sleep quality, improve antioxidant stress capacity, reduce inflammatory damage, and can be widely used in clinical application.
