Corpus-Based Discourse Analysis of Chinese Medicine Coverage in New Zealand Media
To analyze the discourse of New Zealand's news media on traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)can help to reveal the understanding and attitudes of New Zealand's community towards TCM.A small corpus of news reports on TCM in New Zealand was established,and critical discourse analysis was used to analyze the subject words,collocation words and keyword in context of the reported texts.The research finds that the distribution of TCM coverage in New Zealand media is M-shaped;when describing TCM,New Zealand's media mostly uses words with positive semantics;acupuncture and tai chi are hot topics;there are relatively few reports about Chinese medicines in New Zealand's media,and there are still concerns and misunderstandings about the safety of Chinese herbal medicines and animal parts in Chinese medicines.China's media can enhance the overseas promotion accordingly so as to promote the international dissemination of TCM culture.
