Comparative study on the structure and properties of 5052 aluminum alloy CMT,pulse MIG and AC TIG joints
In this paper,CMT,pulsed MIG and AC TIG were used to weld 2 mm 5052 aluminum alloy plates.Metallographic microscope, micro Vickers hardness tester, electronic universal testing machine, etc.were used to study the macroscopic metallography, microstructure, hardness distribution, tensile strength, and bending performance of the joint. The results show that the weld is beautiful and free of defects;the microstructure of the base material and HAZ is α(Al)matrix+a large amount of precipitated β(Mg2Al3),and the microstructure of the weld zone is α(Al)distributed on the matrix. The β(Mg2Al3)phase and Mg2Si compound, the Si in the dendrite is in a supersaturated state, resulting in solid solution strengthening and fine-grain strengthening,mak-ing the microhardness of the weld zone higher than the base material and HAZ;CMT The tensile strengths of the pulsed MIG and AC TIG welded joints were 257 MPa,266 MPa,and 264 MPa,respectively, which reached more than 90%of the tensile strength of the base material. In the face and back bend tests, none of the samples showed cracks exceeding 3 mm.
