The Effect of Perceived Social Support on Adolescents'Career Adaptability:the Chain Mediating Role of Life Purpose and Personal Growth Initiative
This study examines the impact of perceived social support on the career adaptability of adolescents and explores the mediating roles of life purpose and personal growth initiative in this process.Utilizing the perceived social support scale,purpose in life test,personal growth initiative scale,and career adaptability questionnaire,a survey was conducted with 520 students from four ordinary high schools in Qingdao.The findings indicate that there are significant positive correlations between perceived social support,life purpose,personal growth initiative,and career adaptability;perceived social support positively predicts adolescent career adaptability;and life purpose and personal growth initiative act as partial mediators in the relationship between perceived social support and career adaptability;life purpose and personal growth initiative act as chain mediator in the relationship between perceived social support and adolescents'career adaptability.In order to enhance adolescents'career adaptability,schools,families and communities should work together,such as establishing a social support system to provide adolescents with the necessary emotional and resource support;cultivate professional interests and goals,and guide adolescents to establish correct career values;stimulating personal growth initiative,cultivating adolescents'willingness to self-improvement;improving self-awareness,and enhancing their anticipation of and planning for their future career development prospects.
