An Empirical Analysis of Mind Mapping and Process Evaluation Post Whole Book Reading on the Development of Higher-Order Thinking Skills
The cultivation of higher-order thinking skills is essential for enhancing students'learning efficiency and academic performance.Despite this, there is a notable deficiency in both the recognition of its importance and the availability of effective strategies for its enhancement. Therefore,a 14-day whole book reading(WBR)program integrating mind mapping and process evaluation was implemented to explore effective ways of fostering the development of students'higher-order thinking skills. The findings indicate a significant improvement in students'higher-order thinking skills, encompassing divergent thinking, integrative thinking, critical thinking, creative thinking, and metacognitive skills,as a result of the mind mapping practice and process evaluation within the WBR program. It is important to acknowledge, however, that the degree of advancement varies among individuals, highlighting the heterogeneity and nonlinear progression inherent in the evolution of higher-order thinking skills.
