The Digital Transformation of International Higher Education and the Implications for Digital Talent Training in China
In line with the global trend of digitizing higher education,China has also elevated the digitization of higher education to a national strategic level.This study,based on the"Government-University-Society"triangular driving model,categorizes the international digital transformation of higher education into four modes:balanced driving mode,society-oriented hybrid driving mode,government and university-oriented hybrid driving mode,and government-driven single-track mode.The paper critically analyzes the specific characteristics of these four higher education digital transformation modes in eight countries:the United States,the United Kingdom,France,Germany,Russia,Japan,India,and China.Additionally,it evaluates the divergent features presented by each country in terms of institutional frameworks,technological platforms,funding,teaching,research,and management during the process of digital transformation.In the end,the paper suggests that China need ground its approach in its national context,drawing insights from international cutting-edge models to explore the comprehensive and top-tier digital talent cultivation supported by industry and education.It advocates for driving the cultivation of versatile and outstanding digital talents through a distinctive and balanced higher education digitization model,emphasizing collaborative efforts,and diverse innovation in the practical exploration of pathways for cultivating such talents.
