Career Growth and Skill Development Support for New-generation Migrant Workers A Multi-Case Study from the Perspective of Life Course Theory
Vocational skills development serves as the foundation for the career growth of new-generation migrant workers.Drawing upon the life course theory perspective,and focusing on their career growth as the logical thread,this study examines the development and support of vocational skills for new-generation migrant workers by case study.The findings reveal that(1)under the influence and support of vocational skills development,the career growth of new-generation migrant workers manifests in three forms:leap-like ascension,jagged ascension,and steady ascension;(2)during the initial stage of career development,they should actively acquire experiential skills through"learning by doing";during the process of career growth,they should focus on continuous skill investment in a specific job direction to address challenges arising from skill fragmentation and skill obsolescence;in order to achieve career advancement,they should explore multiple channels for in-depth development of vocational skills;and to adapt to the dynamic challenges of the environment,they should intensify efforts in identifying,acquiring,and transferring new skills,thus attaining career breakthroughs.
