"New Vernacular Early Childhood Education":The Sociological Imagination of a homegrown Concept
As a concept with empirical foundation, theoretical insight and a sense of academic mission,"New Vernacular ECE"attempts to use Vernacular ECE as a pivot to re-create a new form of vernacular society and promote a new change in rural life. The"new vernacular ECE"is a new pattern of"kindergarten-village","kindergarten-community","urban-rural"interactions within the county area that transcends the single educational function of traditional vernacular ECE and realizes the unity of the educational function with the social and cultural functions. The article describes the"new vernacular ECE"in terms of ontological storytelling, epistemological self-consciousness,and methodological innovation, and the"new vernacular ECE"as a homegrown concept that demonstrates sociological imagination.Firstly, ontological storytelling emphasizes how to tell the story, weave the theoretical system, and construct the analytical model through"holistic intuition","understanding the truth",and"meeting the meaning with the image".Secondly, epistemology consciously emphasizes how to use an embedded perspective to think in structural relationships, adopting a constructivist orientation to gallop through an opaque world, and practicing major cycle thinking from practice to theory to practice. Finally, the methodological innovations include the deposition of a long-time"structure"to traverse the"three gorges of history"of rural ECE;the change of a medium-time"situation"from local concepts to thinking in patterns;and the innovation of digital action research with a short-time"event"node.
