Educational attainment is a crucial topic in social science research, and the impact of social capital on educational outcomes is gaining increasing attention. This paper systematically reviews both theoretical and empirical studies on how social capital influences educational attainment, summarizing the effects of the"network resources"paradigm, the"social closure"paradigm, the"group resources"paradigm, and the"macro social capital"paradigm.Building on a critique of existing research, this paper calls for the expansion of research paradigms on social capital's influence on educational attainment. It proposes the use of human development ecosystem theory to comprehensively analyze these impacts, emphasizes the importance of individual agency and constructiveness in educational attainment, explores various research dimensions, and advocates for employing diverse research methods to achieve varied and appropriate studies. The goal is to better inform the practice of educational equity.
