Cross-Media Reading Teaching in Middle Schools in the Post-Truth Era:Values,Characteristics and Implementing Strategies
In the post-truth era,people are surrounded by various information that is difficult to distinguish between true and false.whose aim is to enable middle school students to"distinguish facts from viewpoints"and"form independent judgments",the teaching of cross-media reading demonstrates its unique value,mainly manifested as follows:it is conducive to broadening students'horizons and promoting students'wide reading;to cultivating students'media literacy competencies and improving their reading ability;to cultivating students'critical thinking literacy and promoting the modernization process of people.Based on the diverse,situational,and critical characteristics of cross-media reading,teachers should adopt the following three teaching strategies:to expand media channels and to encourage wide reading;to construct real situations and to promote deep reading;to differentiate media positions and to advocate critical reading in order to enhance students'ability to search for facts and truth in the post-truth era,and to cultivate rational citizens with critical awareness.
