Retrospection and Reflection on the Communication Between Chinese and Western Philosophy of Education in the First Half of the 20th Century
As a part of the trend of"Easternization of Western Learning",the spread of the Western philosophy of education is an objective phenomenon in the process of China's modernization as well as a response of education as a social subsystem to the development of the society at that time.As an organic component of the human educational knowledge system,the Western philosophy of education has its own theoretical origin and focal points of issues.Though its philosophical foundations and cultural traditions are different from their Chinese counterparts,the Western philosophy of education plays the role of a"reference frame"for the latter's development.In the first half of the 20th century,the spread of the Western philosophy of education stimulated discussions among Chinese researchers on issues like the relationship between education and philosophy,the understanding of the Western philosophy of education,the environment for the development of Chinese philosophy of education,and the factors influencing it.In the process of"meeting"to"blending",people have thought deeply about the concept,philosophical foundations,future development and other questions of the philosophy of education.
