"Requisite moral character"is a newly emerged educational"buzzword",along with core competencies and values,is a key term to define key competencies.The use of"requisite"to qualify and modify moral character reflects a separatist understanding of human moral character,that is,there are some"requisite"human moral characters and others that are"non-requisite".Such an understanding of moral character challenges the old proposition of the oneness and unity of the virtues.The explicit and implicit presuppositions embedded in the term"requisite moral character"have many insurmountable contradictions,both ethical and pedagogical.The concept of"requisite moral character"as a pedagogical concept remains problematic.
