Arthropods are widely distributed, have a large quantity of species, and a high derivative value, thus the study of arthropods are more and more deeply in recent years. The arthropod mitochondrial and ribosomal gene sequences have been investigated. However, compared to DNA sequences, the evolution pattern of protein sequences are much simpler,so it may be a better way to study the phylogeny using protein sequences. As one of the most important members of innate immune system, phenoloxidase may be used as a molecular marker to study the arthropod evolution. In order to elucidate the evolution ofphenoloxidase superfamily in arthropod, and provide more theoretical basis for the study of arthropod evolution,we analysed the composition of phenoloxidase superfamily in arthropod, and constructed the phylogenetic tree based on the protein sequences.
