Influence of Expandable Graphite on Fire Resistance of Fire Retardation Coatings for Steel Structure
Polyvinyl pyrolidone was used to modify the surface of expandable graphite(EG). Influence of EG before and after surface modification and their use level on the fire resistance of water-based ultra thin intumescent fire retardation coatings for steel structure was investigated. The results show that compared with the unmodified EG,the modified EG has excellent dispersity in water, and has marked effect to improve the fire resistance of fire retardation coatings. When the use level of modified EG is 3.2% (by mass) ,the coating gets the best fire resistance ,and the backside temperature of the board coated with fire retardation coatings could be maintained at 288 ℃ for a long time.
