Research on the Additional Damping Ratio and Multi-storey and High-rise Concrete Structures Seismic Response
The additional damping ratio refers to the effective damping ratio imparted to the original structure by the damper(energy dissipation device)in the design of structural energy dissipation and vibration reduction. Its role is to absorb or dissipate the energy transmitted to the structure by seismic waves, thereby reducing the structural seismic response.Based on structural mechanics knowledge and the provisions of structural seismic design codes,it is known that when a structure has an additional damping ratio, the seismic forces borne by the building structure itself are less than those of a structure without an additional damping ratio, and the larger the additional damping ratio, the more significant the reduction in seismic forces borne by the building structure. This paper aims to investigate the impact of different damping ratios on seismic forces and summarize their variation patterns.
