The Calculation of Additional Damping Ratio of Viscous Damping Seismic Structure Based on Time-History Analysis Method
The key to the design of the energy dissipation structure is to calculate the additional damping ratio of the viscous damping structure. This paper investigated the computation of the additional damping ratio based on the widely used time-history analysis method.First, starting from the basic theory, the main problems and important parameter settings were analyzed with the calculation of additional damping ratio by the fast nonlinear analysis(FNA)method based on the eigenvector method, the FNA method based on the Ritz vector method, the direct integration method and the energy ratio method corresponding to the three calculation methods. Then the test results of a single-degree-of-freedom system were compared with the numerical simulation results of various calculation methods,to obtain more suitable methods for calculating the additional damping ratio. Finally, the research results were applied to actual engineering structure to further verify the correctness and rationality of the recommended method and parameter settings in this paper. The purpose of the study is to provide important guidance for many first-line damping design engineers to calculate the more realistic additional damping ratio in the future.
