Experiment on the Mechanical Behavior of Cast Steel Joint Used in the Main Stadium for 2023 Pacific Games in Solomon Islands
Cast steel joints were introduced into the dendriform roof structure for the main stadium for 2023 Pacific Games in Solomon Islands.Full-scale test and nonlinear finite element analysis were carried out to investigate the mechanical behavior of the cast steel joints under unfavorable design load condition. The results indicate that the steel joint exhibits elastic behavior up to 100%design load under tensile condition and 160%design load under compression condition, and no residual deformation after unloading is observed. The finite element analysis results match well with the test data, indicating that the finite element analysis can accurately simulate the actual stress state of the joint specimen. The ultimate bearing capacity of the cast steel node is 9.0 times the design load under tension conditions and 8.6 times the design load under compression conditions, meeting the relevant requirements specified in the Technical Specification for Application of Connections of Structural Steel Casting(CECS 235:2008).The designed cast steel joint has a relatively high strength reserve.
