Research on Efficiency Evaluation of Infrastructure Investment in Chinese Provincial Capital Cities
To investigate the level,differences,and influencing factors of infrastructure investment efficiency in provincial capital cities,data from Chinese provincial capital cities from 2010 to 2022 was employed to apply the super efficiency SBM model and Malmquist index method to measure the efficiency of infrastructure investment and total factor productivity.A Tobit regression model was constructed to analyze the influencing factors of urban infrastructure investment efficiency.The findings indicate that regions with higher efficiency in infrastructure investment exhibit higher input and output.These cities are among the most populous,economically developed,and technologically advanced in the country.In contrast,other regions with higher efficiency exhibit lower input and higher output.These cities are large in scale,experiencing rapid growth,and their industrial structure is primarily composed of the secondary and tertiary industries.The scale efficiency of infrastructure investment has a significant positive impact on the total factor productivity of infrastructure investment in various regions.The expenditure on science and technology,as well as population density,have a significant positive impact on the average efficiency of infrastructure investment in provincial capital cities across the country.
