Dynamic Efficiency of Waste and Carbon Reduction in Construction Industry:Based on Malmquist-Luenberger Index Model
Reducing waste and carbon emissions in the construction industry is a crucial step towards achieving high-quality and sustainable development. This study focuses on 30 provinces in China and employs the Malmquist-Luenberger index model to assess the efficiency of China's construction industry in reducing construction waste and carbon emissions. The temporal evolution characteristics of four major economic regions and provinces in reducing construction waste and carbon emissions from 2010 to 2020 in China are analyzed. The results indicate that the overall ML index in various regions exhibits a fluctuating upward trend. The technological progress index in the eastern region plays a significant role in promoting overall efficiency, and the technological level tends to develop steadily during the research period. The technological progress index in the central region contributes the most to the comprehensive efficiency value. The scale efficiency change index in the western region exhibits a downward trajectory throughout the research period, and the pure technical efficiency index is a key factor in improving the comprehensive efficiency index. The pure technical efficiency change index and scale efficiency change index in the Northeast region demonstrate a notable surge.
