Analysis of flame retardancy and fire resistance performance of polyurethane materials in fire monitoring systems
Polyurethane(PU)is widely used in fire monitoring systems, but its flammability limits its scope of use.To improve the flame retardancy of polyurethane, this study used sodium alginate as a flame retardant to modify it.The experimental results showed that the addition of sodium alginate significantly improved the carbonization de-gree,oxygen index, and smoke density of polyurethane.Considering the dosage and cost of sodium alginate, when the dosage of sodium alginate reaches 50 g,the comprehensive performance of polyurethane is optimal, with a car-bonization degree reduced to 0.003 7%,an oxygen index exceeding 27%,and a smoke density reduced to 200 Dm,effectively improving the safety of materials in fire monitoring systems. Therefore, sodium alginate has impor-tant application value in flame retardant modification of polyurethane materials.
