H-shaped steel composite beam with asymmetric flange is an optimized composite beam form, which can improve the section bending efficiency of the composite beam, reduce engineering quantity and reduce the carbon emission. The analytical solution of optimal section, the factors affecting the section bending efficiency, the bearing capacity effectiveness and the bending stiffness of H-shaped steel composite beam with asymmetric flange were studied.According to the load distribution, the limit value of the ratio of the flexural capacity of the composite beam during construction and use phase can be determined, the percentage interval of the upper flange thickness meeting the limit value can be obtained, and the maximum point of the flexural capacity in this interval is the design control point.According to the above results,a new section design strategy of H-shaped steel composite beam with asymmetric flange was proposed.Combined with the actual project, the economy of composite beams was verified, and the results show that the economic benefit of H-shaped steel composite beam with asymmetric flange is remarkable.
