Experimental study on compressive behavior of brick masonry strengthened by grouting
Many brick and stone masonry drainage pipelines built in the 20th century in China face problems such as long-term disrepair and loss of function, which affect the normal operation of cities. It is urgent to reinforce and repair them.In view of the characteristics that the drainage pipeline and channel of masonry structure are scoured by groundwater for a long time, and the mortar of mortar joint is not full and performance is deteriorated, grouting method can be used to fill mortar joints of original structural, and on the basis of fully repairing the original structure, the whole structure can be strengthened and repaired. In order to verify the feasibility of grouting reinforcement of damaged masonry. The state of long-term water scouring and performance degradation of masonry mortar in mortar joint was simulated by masonry specimens with 50%~60%full degree of mortar joint. The compression test of 6 grouting brick masonry and 3 ungrouting brick masonry were completed to compare and analyze the mechanical performance of brick masonry before and after grouting.Based on the test results, the stress-strain curve of brick masonry is fitted. The results show that the compressive strength of brick masonry after grouting is 280%of non-grouting masonry, the elastic modulus and poisson's ratio of grouting reinforced masonry is 281%、60%of those of non-grouting masonry respectively. It is proved that the grouting method can improve the mechanical properties of the damaged masonry structure, and can play important role in repairing the original masonry structure in strengthening the drainage pipeline and channel of masonry structure.
