In recent years, the early in-service cable-membrane structure in China has gradually reached its service life, and scientific detection and evaluation will become an important task.Taking an existing single-layer grid-supported membrane structure radome in Northeast China as the object, its engineering detection and safety evaluation methods were studied detailly. The tested radome has been built for about 14 years, and the PVC membrane used in its membrane structure is about to reach a service life of 15 years. In the detection and evaluation, the mechanical properties and residual uniaxial tensile strength of the aged membrane are evaluated by experimental research on the existing membrane materials on site. All the node positions of the grid structure were measured, and the current configuration of the existing structure was detected. The weld quality and pin quality of the grid steel structure were tested on site. The finite element model of steel structure and membrane structure under the current configuration was established to evaluate the safety of the radome structure under the required wind load under the existing material properties. The research shows that the measured project still maintains good working performance after 14 years in the severe cold region of Northeast China.Although the mechanical properties of the membrane material are degraded,it has the working ability to reach the service life(15 years).
