Study on influence of slenderness ratio on mechanical properties of high strength assembled cold-formed thin-walled steel under axial compression
In order to study the influence of slenderness ratio on the mechanical properties of high-strength assembled cold-formed thin-walled steel with wall thickness less than 1mm under axial compression,a total of 12 specimens of S550 single-limb C-shaped cross-section column and open double-limb combined cross-section column with wall thickness of 0.8mm were designed and manufactured based on the Technical specification for cold-formed thin-walled steel structures(GB 50018-2002).The slenderness ratios were 30,40,50,60,70 and 80 respectively. The height of the specimens was changed respectively for experimental research by controlling the size of the basic specimens. The analysis results show that when the cross section of the column is the same, the axial compression bearing capacity of the S550 cold-formed thin-walled steel specimen with a wall thickness of 0.8mm decreases with the increase of the slenderness ratio, and it is safe to calculate according to the relevant formula in the Technical specification for cold-formed thin-walled steel structures(GB 50018-2002).Under the same slenderness ratio, the ultimate bearing capacity of the open-ended double-limb composite section column is 2.03~2.13 times that of the single-limb C-shaped section column.
