Study on calculation method for shear capacity of RC beam-column joint considering size effect
The safety stock of shear capacity of RC beam-column joints designed according to the Code for design of concrete structures(GB 50010-2010)decreases significantly with the increase of joint size, which is mainly due to the size effect of nominal shear strength of the joint.Firstly, based on the analysis of the influence of different factors on the nominal shear strength and size effect behavior of RC beam-column joint,a size effect formula of nominal shear strength of RC beam-column joint was established considering the influence of stirrup ratio, axial compression ratio and concrete strength of joint synthetically.Furthermore,by introducing the size effect coefficient,a suggestion for revising the calculation formula of shear capacity of RC beam-column joint in the Code for design of concrete structures(GB 50010-2010)were put forward.Compared with relevant test data,it is shown that the shear capacity of RC beam-column joint designed based on the modified formula can effectively improve the safety stock of large joint.
