Optimization of Assessment Standard for Healthy Building Based on Biophilic Design
The health benefits of biophilic design have been validated by interdisciplinary research. As an important method to improve the health performance of buildings, this study compared and analyzed six building assessment standards from four aspects of direct nature experience, indirect nature experience, spatial and place experience, and activities in natural places. The findings show that China's Assessment Standard for Healthy Building, the WELL in the United States, and the Green Mark in Singapore cover more than 60%of biophilic design elements, achieving basic coverage, while the Living Building Challenge in Canada,LEED in the United States, and BREEAM in the United Kingdom cover less than 60%of such elements, and their content is indicating inadequate coverage.Furthermore, this study proposed ways to optimize China's assessment standard for healthy buildings based on biophilic design, such as adding factors like improving green looking ratio, natural space experience, and natural form,to provide valuable reference for further improving human-centric building assessment standards.
