Review on Building Occupant Behavior Modelling Methods
Occupant behavior(OB)in buildings is one of the key factors affecting building energy consumption, and OB features complexity, diversity and stochasticity. In traditional building performance simulation,a fixed-schedule or an over-simplified method is used to simulate OB,leading to a huge gap between simulation results and actual conditions. Therefore, many scholars have conducted research on OB and established accurate OB models. This paper will review the current status of research on building human behavior, from data collection, model establishment and validation to engineering applications. In terms of data collection, the advantages and disadvantages of various existing collection methods are reviewed. Then,it reviews existing methods for constructing models that encompass both occupants'movement and energy-use behavior. These methods include fixed routines, probabilistic models, and data-driven models. Finally, concerning engineering applications, this study summarizes the applications of OB in building design, operation, renovation, and policies. This paper introduces OB simulation methods thoroughly, providing a foundation for more accurate and reasonable quantification of the impact of OB on actual building energy consumption simulations in the future.
