Swelling equilibrium limit model predicting deformation of expansive soils foundation upon flooding
The soaking expansion of expansive soil foundation is easy to cause uneven settlement and upwarp cracking of houses.In order to establish the uplift calculation method and model of expansive soil foundation,several groups of one-dimensional free and loaded expansion tests are carried out to determine the swelling equilibrium limit(SEL),and the SEL calculation formula of single-layer and multi-layer expansive soil foundation is derived.Taking the typical expansive soil in Nanning as an example,the effects of model parameters,uplift and neutral point depth are analyzed,and the results are compared with the model test.The results show that the uplift and neutral point depth of soil decrease with the decrease of a and b,and the change of uplift curve is more sensitive to b.The uplift at any depth and the thickness of the soil layer are saddle-shaped surfaces in three-dimensional space;the expansion potential energy has a good correspondence with the expansion amount;the prediction results of the SEL method are in good agreement with the model test,and the method has certain engineering application value.
