Writing Histore de l'Architecture of Reason and Perception
Auguste Choisy,a French 19thcentury engineer and architectural historian,was the author of Histoire de l'architecture.This book,which uses construction as a thread throughout centuries of architectural history,has significantly impacted the forerunners of the modernist movement.However,Choisy's writing has received little attention from scholars due to language limitations and material shortage.Through a review of the original text and research findings,this paper analyzes and summarizes Choisy's principles and foundations of writing.It then concludes the manifestations and causes of structural rationalism,regional vision,and picturesque thinking.
