The regeneration of Japan's rental residential complexes, which began in the 1980s,has transitioned from comprehensive reconstruction to stock regeneration. The strategies and implementation mechanisms focus-ing on regional resource collaboration and stock value enhancement offer valuable insights. This study first out-lines the development history of rental residential complexes and analyses the evolution of the concept of regional collaboration. It then summarises the implementation path of stock regeneration from three dimensions:goals and vision, classification and approaches, and mechanisms and measures. Finally,it presents the implications for China's public rental housing regeneration in four aspects:collaborating regional resources, enriching age demo-graphics,promoting diverse cooperation, and providing financial support.
