Gullichsen's Inheritance and Innovation of Aalto's Design Philosophy:A Case Study of the Kauniainen Church
Postmodern architect Kristian Gullichsen is one of the representative figures of Finnish architects,a disciple of Alvar Aalto.This article analyzes the significant influence of Aalto on the formation of Gullichsen's design concept and the evolution of Gullichsen's design philosophy.With Aalto's architectural design works as a contrast,it explores Gullichsen's inheritance of Aalto's site design,material application,and light design concepts in his mature representative work,the Kauniainen Church.It reveals the prominent differences between the two in terms of architectural style,spatial experience,and facade design under different social backgrounds,with the aim of providing reference for the creative thinking of contemporary architects to carry forward the past and open up the future.
