This article uses key historical milestones as a framework to trace the history of architectural education at the ENSBA,from the period of the Académie Royale d'Architecture to the ENSA.Through the perspective of the architectural profession,it examines the flexibility that allows for innovation reflected in French society,the field of architectural education,and within the school throughout history.It re-evaluates the binary paradigm formed by academicism and the modern architectural movement,and analyzes the distinct characteristics of Chinese archi-tects who studied in the BA system in the early 20th century.
