Tea Village Dwelling Chronicles:Historical Changes of a Tujia Traditional Dwelling
"Dwelling Chronicles"is a memoir not only of architecture but also of its inhabitants.Existing research on traditional dwellings mainly focuses on the static characteristics of their architectural space.The study of"Ar-chitecture Chronicles"aims to reproduce the diachronic process of change in traditional dwelling cases from con-struction to habitation.Its goal is to establish an architectural translation method,incorporating the spatiotempo-ral dimension of"visiting the scene of life".On the basis of field research of a typical Tujia traditional dwelling,we conduct interviews with the owner and observe his family's daily life in order to investigate the dynamic evolutions of architectural space.Moreover,we investigate the underlying profound cultural motivation and explore the adaptive mechanism of local traditional dwellings,thereby providing guidance on the preservation and develop-ment of local traditional dwellings.
