Folk Legends and the Construction of Local Social Scenes
The folk legends created by generations of people contain their ideological concepts and value orientations.Historical memory and cultural resources are endogenous forces for ordinary people to participate in the construction of social and cultural spaces,maintain local order,and promote rural social development.Based on scene theory,this study focuses on the legend of Qinglong,which is passed down in Wanhua Village,Wuzhi,Henan Province.It discusses the role of legends in the construction of scenes in three different spaces:grassroots organizational structure,practice of praying for rain,and material activity square in local society.It reveals the important significance of legends in rural scene construction and provides useful reference for the development of rural society.
